MOXI Laser Post-Care Treatment

CLEANSING:

Begin by cleansing the skin twice daily with plain, lukewarm water and a mild cleanser. Pat the area gently with your hands. You are advised not to rub or use a scrub or cleansing brush, such as a Clarisonic, on the treated area.

MOISTURIZER:

Apply liberally with clean hands to the treated area and reapply as needed. Please do not use any other products not recommended by your doctor, such as coconut oil or natural oils.

SUNSCREEN:

Sunscreen should be used daily starting the day after treatment for up to 3 months after surgery. SPF 30 physical sunscreen with Broadband UVA and UVB protection is recommended. When exposed to the sun, reapply sunscreen.

What to Expect & What You Should Do:

The treated area may feel warm for 1-2 hours after the treatment. There may be a period of warmth between 12 and 24 hours. During this time, cold compresses may provide comfort. Also, a mineral water spray provides some relief and much-needed moisture to the skin.

Redness (Erythema)Redness is typical and expected. After treatment, redness usually increases in intensity for the first few days, peaking on day 3. Depending on the treatment intensity, redness can persist for up to 7 days. Cleanse gently and keep your skin moisturized and out of the sun, allowing your skin time to heal and limiting further stress.

MENDsMENDs (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) are visible on the 2nd or 3rd day following treatment as tiny dark spots and bronzed color. MENDs are part of the recovery process where treated tissue works out of your body as new, fresh skin is regenerated. During this time, your skin will be dehydrated and feel like sandpaper as it flakes and peels. Keep your skin well hydrated to support the healing process. Do not pick at your skin.

Possible Side Effects

Swelling (Edema)

Swelling is joint and expected immediately after treatment. The use of a cold compress will help to relieve the swelling. You may sleep upright the first 2-3 nights after the treatment to avoid further swelling. The first-morning post-treatment is when bumps are more prevalent, especially under the eyes. Swelling may last 2-4 days.
